Let's go deco!

Our latest collection  is heavily inspired by the art deco movement. We love the bold geometric compositions and block colours of art deco design. Although the movement began in the 1920's, art deco retains a modernistic look and aspects of this style can often be seen in many designs of today.

some of our work....

We are in the process of creating our brand and spreading the word of 'hinny' in the North East. After the success of the car park series we are about to start our T-shirt collection. We will be designing prints for lads and lasses which will be screen printed onto handmade T-shirts, all unique to the Hinny label.

Get Carter Car park prints

The demolition of the car park is pending.... there is a huge conflict of opinion surrounding the building from those who can not wait to see it destroyed to those who are trying to save it. There is also a big cult following stemmed from the buildings role in the 1971 film Get Carter. As the car park is something we now pass everyday on the way to our studio we thought it would be interesting to incorporate the piece of architecture into our work while we still can! The fact that the building is viewed as ugly by a lot of locals also makes it an interesting challenge. The blocky structure of the 1960's Brutalist design transfers really well into a screen print and seems to have changed some peoples long standing opinion of the car-park.
